You can still enroll for health insurance through the Marketplace or change plans if you have had certain life or income events. You may also qualify for Medicaid or CHIP.

For coverage starting as soon as possible Check If You Qualify and get help immediately. You may still be within your Special Enrollment Period or qualify for other options too.

A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) due to a life change like losing your health coverage, moving, getting married, having a baby, or adopting a child, may qualify you to enroll in or change health plans in the Marketplace when you are outside the annual Open Enrollment Period (OEP) from November 1 to January 15.

Medicaid, CHIP, or a household income based change such as individuals, families and children with certain incomes may qualify for Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or a health insurance through the Marketplace. If you are eligible based on estimated household income, you can apply at any time.

What you pay will depend on more than your income. January 15th was the end of the Open Enrollment Period for 2023 coverage however you still have other options.

Top Tips You Need Next Year For Open Enrollment In 2024

Make an appointment early. It's easy to put coverage off until you are up against the clock but with many plans to choose from and millions of people looking for coverage you do not want to miss your chance to enroll in the right coverage. Open enrollment is from From November 1st to January 15th.

Review your options. Most plans have several levels to choose from. Platinum may offer the most coverage however you may not see what you need. The price might be right for Bronze however is it the best for you when you need it?

Know what is included. To qualify to be included in the Marketplace, all plans cover 10 essential health benefits, cover pre-existing conditions, and they cover preventive services.

See what you qualify for. Do not assume you cannot afford coverage just because you couldn't in the past. With updated pricing for 2023 and additional tax credits you may not have to skip if you've done so in the past.

Get the plan you need. The Marketplace is specific to health insurance however some plans offer additional vision and dental plans too. Don't expect life insurance but you can expect an array of plans to choose from.

Choose the right network. Be sure to choose a network you will use. When you utilize in-network care, your coverage usually pays more of the fees and overall health care costs to you are typically much lower.

Don't miss the deadline! Start with the end in mind and work your way backwards. Know and understand your dates. If you want coverage to start on Jan 1st be sure to map out and leave room for payments, appointments and questions.
